About

Michael first started working in the IT field in 1996 as a network engineer. Almost all of his experience has come from the consulting services and managed services provider (MSP) space. His IT service industry experience has instructed him to blend technical knowledge with inter-personal skills yielding unparalleled growth and expertise over the past 28 years. He was instrumental in defining, developing, and launching service products for  MSP’s, as value added resellers shifted their core business away from the traditional break-fix model. The standards and policies that he created were innovative and transformative and all MSP’s still use them today.

In 1999 Michael’s ability to quickly adapt to new challenges and environments, while honing his craft, allowed him to formally enter the IT security space. His unique blend of technical prowess and ability to clearly communicate technical issues to “non-technical” people catapulted him into several different project management roles over the next few years. Most notably was the implementation of a $35 million dollar emergency department redesign initiative, and a $5.5 million dollar organization-wide materials management system for major healthcare providers in the NY Metro region.

As part of his early days in Cyber-Security, and prior to the FBI forming their cyber-division, he provided Security Vulnerability Assessments for organizations who experienced large financial breaches and advised law enforcement of nefarious activity. By 2004 his passion for helping people and solving problems through technology drove him to pursue pre-sales engineering and sales roles for the largest privately owned MWBE in the world. In 2008, Michael joined Commlan, where he is now the proud owner and president.

Michael has an extensive amount of experience over the past few decades and he has consulted for many different SMB’s and enterprise organizations including, Accenture, AIG, AXA Equitable, Bayer Healthcare, Blackrock, Cap Gemini (Ernst and Young), CA Technologies (formerly Computer Associates), Cooperman Barnabus Medical Center of NJ (formerly Saint Barnabus), Debevoise and Plimpton, DoD – US Navy, GE Capital, KPMG, Matsushita – Panasonic, Mt. Sinai Medical Center (formerly Continuum Health Partners aka Beth Israel Medical Center and St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital), Optimum, Siemens AG (several subsidiaries), and Verizon.

Michael has successfully implemented a staggering number of solutions for the most admired organizations and SMB’s producing and managing revenue of more than $450 million. His curation of these organizations best practices, policies, and procedures has informed many SMB’s how to achieve the growth they desire, by leveraging similar technologies usually reserved only for the enterprise space. These solutions include open-source products and in-depth knowledge of software licensing, enabling organizations to integrate the most cost effective and appropriate solutions. His recent adoption of AI into Commlan’s service offerings has streamlined disparate issues and consolidated them into a more digestible format for service technicians while enhancing end user support.

Michael has obtained dozens of certifications since 1996 and his passion for technology is infectious. Most recently he has achieved certifications of Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). In his free time, and for the past 38 years, Michael can be found playing guitar and enjoys listening to a wide variety of music.
