Art Programs and Exhibits!

  • Art classes for all ages: children through adult
  • Public exhibits of local artists
  • Free programs for children, seniors and veterans
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization whose purpose is to enrich our community through art education, public art exhibits and to provide resources for local artists.  We have operated in the community for over 15 years under the name The Wallkill River School, but in 2022 we have changed our name to Wallkill River Center for the Arts to better represent the full scope of our offerings, including writing, performace and exhibits. Our gallery exhibits feature local artists in all of their variety.  We embrace contemporary art and the living culture of our region as well as celebrating the area's historic connection to plein air painting (painting onsite, outdoors).   We believe that art education is critical for developing creativity and thoughtfulness in our youth and we offer as many as 50 scholarships to our summer art programs to local youth. Adult art classes take place year round, taught by the best of our local talent and special workshops from visiting artists. We offer discounts and scholarships for veterans and hold a free Senior Drop-in Class every Tuesday morning 10-12:00.  Unleash your inner artist!
