Regional Food Bank - Development Manager
Qualifications: Three - five years of related work experience in fundraising, business development, and/or marketing where job duties have progressed over time. Strong interpersonal, speaking, writing, and computer skills. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential donors. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to manage multiple tasks and relate well with the public. Valid NYS Driver's License.
Physical Requirements: This position works in a typical office setting but may be exposed to extreme temperatures in a warehouse setting. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing, and/or bending, listening, talking, and/or visual concentration, writing, and/or computer use. This position would normally have routine opportunities for the employee to be able to alter their physical position or change eye focus. Occasional lifting, moving, and delivering boxes required; lifting should not exceed 30 pounds.
General Description: Assist in the development and implementation of fundraising, to include donor relations. Be a team player and provide leadership within the Development Department and communicate the impact of fundraising efforts to internal and external stakeholders. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others to achieve the goals of the organization. Dedication in raising community awareness, building support, utilizing research to achieve our vision of a hunger-free community.
Position Summary:
- Fundraising
- Plays a pivotal role working with Development Team and Food Bank Leadership to develop and implement fundraising strategies, cultivating donor relationships, and stewarding gift giving to the Food Bank.
- Collaborate with departmental team members to identify key areas of focus and philanthropic priorities.
- Identifies and pursues diverse funding streams, including individual donors, foundations, corporations, regional employers, and the public sector.
- Monitors and evaluates fundraising activities to ensure goals are being met.
- Keeps abreast of fundraising trends, especially amongst Food Banks and within the Feeding America network.
- Donor Cultivation
- Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with major gift donors and corporate sponsors.
- Creates personalized engagement strategies to deepen donor involvement and commitment.
- Identifies and stewards a portfolio of new major donors and corporate gift givers.
- Utilizes fundraising software to track donor interactions, manages donor databases, and generates reports for analysis.
- Special Events
- Works closely with special events team to execute fundraising events to meet the needs of the Food Bank
- Works directly with event committee members to assist in obtaining sponsorships and donations
- Pursues in-kind support of events to maximize net proceeds
- Monitors and controls event expenses
- Community Relations
- Represents the Food Bank at meetings and networking events as directed by leadership.
- Identifies and builds relationships with partners (businesses, organizations, publicofficials, community contacts) to expand support for the Food Bank.
- Teamwork & Collaboration
- Helps foster a collaborative and results-driven culture.
- Works closely with other departments to align development strategies with overall organizational and strategic plan objectives.
- Effectively communicates the impact of fundraising efforts to internal and external stakeholders.
- Other duties
- Maintains a clean and safe workspace.
- Follows all safety standards and procedures.
- Works independently and collaboratively with other departments and employees in support of the mission of the Food Bank.
- Adheres to the Food Bank's Employee Code of Conduct.
- Performs other duties as necessary to meet Food Bank needs.
