Farmworker Appreciation Day & Bilingual IPM Training for Hudson Valley Orchards

MIDDLETOWN, NY – Farmworkers are the backbone of agricultural operations that keep our economies growing and thriving. Orchard farmworkers in particular support a multitude of agricultural products and services in NY, such as cideries and U-Pick tourism.

Join CCE Orange County, New York Integrated Pest Management, Cornell Agritech, and the New York Apple Association for a fun and educational appreciation event for farmworkers from orchards in the Hudson Valley!

The event will take place on July 24, 2024, from 11:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. at Locust Grove Brewing Co. in Milton, NY. Attendees will enjoy lunch together while we recognize farmworkers for their service to our community. Followed by a series of 15-minute educational stations covering important topics in IPM such as disease identification, pesticide safety, and health resources for farmers. Attendees may also participate in multiple raffles throughout the day!

We are asking farms to send up to 5 longstanding employees they would like to recognize and provide training to. This will be a bilingual event with simultaneous translation in English and Spanish.

This event is $10 per person with scholarships available upon request. Pre-registration is required: For program questions and sponsorship inquiries, please contact Raúl E. Lemus Garza at rel267@cornell.edu or 845-344-1234 Ext.275
