Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh, Inc.

We have been busy at Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh Inc. this month....

Santa & Mrs. Claus
On Friday, December 12th, Santa & Mrs. Claus again came to MOW to visit with staff and volunteers and to deliver some meals to our clients personally, this is now the 2nd year and counting!!  Mr. & Mrs. Claus are James & Susan Foley from Monroe NY and have been doing this for their communities for a decade now..... below are some photos....

The Garden Club of Orange & Dutchess
We proudly distributed the following specially made holiday items by The Garden Club of Orange & Dutchess to our clients in December... below are some photos....

Regional Food Bank
Pallets of shelf stable food items were provided by the Regional Food Bank in Montgomery, we were able to fill 75 Emergency Food Bags for our clients, these bags serve as a back up in the event MOW Newburgh is closed to due to weather contditions.  The Regional Food Bank dontates this to us each year and last year we began a smaller spring food bag distrubution.

In addition, the Regional Food Bank also donated 300 complete Thanksgiving meals, they were distributed to all of our clients, the residents of the building we reside in (35 Cerone Place), the building across the street (Burton Towers) and our next door neighbor Evercare received a handful.  The Executive Director of MOW Newburgh personally drove down Broadway in Newburgh to hand out the remaining dozen of Thanksgiving meals to those on the streets and in the local motel.

Lastly, The Regional Food Bank also donated 33 cases of complete 7-day breakfast and lunch meal kits to MOW Newburgh, these were also provided to our clients in addition to what we provide them.  Credit was given to the Regional Food Bank and Amy Robillard for the gracious extra support this holiday season!

Kiwanis Club of Newburgh
Along with Key Club memeber from NFA and Cornwall High School, the Kiwanis Club of Newburgh came to MOW Newburgh on the evening of December 18th to assemble 85 fruit baskets donated by the Kiwainis Club of Newburgh.  Baskets included various fresh fruit, large print word search book, Calander from United Brain Association, Holiday Cards and some candy.

VCA Flannery Animal Hospital
The VCA Flannery Animal Hospital made a generous donation for our MOW Newburgh clients who have cats and/or dogs with a bag filled with items for each this holiday season!  This makes our clients so happy to have their furry friends and loved ones remembered as well during the holidays.

It is ONLY with generous partners like the ones above that we can serve our clients in the best possible way with extra love and support especially during the holiday seasons!

On behalf of everyone at Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh, Inc., our Board of Directors, Volunteers, Kitchen Staff and myself, Jennifer Verdin -Executive Director, THANK YOU once again to all our partners, for helping the infirm in our communities to live wherethey want to be - at home - with independence and dignity.
